Home News & Events Aspirations Event
Yesterday at The Greater Horseshoe School, we held our first Aspirations Event. Pupils, parents and carers moved around activity stations, each with a vocation-related activity. 14 stations included a Horticulture planting activity, bricklaying for Construction, a painting and decorating task, a window cleaning station, car washing and biscuit decorating for Hospitality and Catering. We even had four sheep and a rabbit for the Animal Care stations! The aim of the event was to get every child thinking of their futures, talking about their hopes for jobs and making plans for creating their own pathways to employment. From Year 10 onwards, pupils choose vocational subjects so the event helped pupils to understand what the vocational options involve and to start forming preferences to help their choices.
The feedback from the pupils, parents and carers was hugely positive. They found the event really enjoyable and felt that they had more understanding of the vocational choices available.
