Pride celebrations at Greater Horseshoe School

Teacher and Head of Faculty for PSHE at The Greater Horseshoe School, Stacey Clements, wanted to share how the team and students there have been celebrating Pride:

“The Greater Horseshoe School launched Pride month with our whole school assembly. Other activities have included watching the Netflix series Heartstoppers at lunch times, learning about LGBTQIA+ music artists and sports stars, creating Pride acrostic poetry, artwork and displays. On 10th June, we donned our brightest colours and celebrated Pride in all its glory!

“Our trained staff and our young people have been working together to build on our tolerant, open and understanding culture at school. There have been some very honest and open conversations off the back of our celebrations with a number of our cohort feeling comfortable enough to share their own sexualities and gender identities with the team. This means that our young people are free to express their true selves which has a knock-on impact on their mental wellbeing. Amazing work all round!”

Headteacher, Lukasz Miecznikowski added:

“What a brilliant day! Thanks so much to everyone who has supported Pride today. There have been some amazing conversations going on around all three sites with our students. Thank you to Stacey Clements organising activities and kicking off the week with assembly about Pride month.

Thanks once again – we have made a real difference to some of young people today. ❤????????????????????.”
